ABOUT
Jeremy Reiss is a second-generation carpenter and woodworker. He has worked on home improvement projects since 2008 refining his craft to included furniture for the past 6 years.
A former professional BMX trail rider, designer & builder of dirt courses in action sports competitions; Jeremy aka Magilla is no stranger to dusty ole’ dust and smoothing out the bumps by hand. His “stead fast” principles and easy going demeanor gained him trust and respect as an expert in the BMX dirt scene.
Jeremy naturally transitioned from crafting jumps into crafting furniture and home improvement projects. His first home purchase, a 1910 row-style in Philadelphia, was his first taste of major restoration and demolition. He learned that hand-sanding a 18ft craftsman style pillared bookcase was more a pleasure than a pain. And hammering (actual) horse-hair plaster to expose 30-feet of brick was quite satisfying as well.
Fast forward to now. Jeremy is most proud of his furniture and installation work for private clients. Being a dad with a small child, he seeks to support people and families to elevate their spaces with bespoke craftsmanship and optimal functionality. He finds great satisfaction actualizing a clients vision for greater enjoyment and quality of life in their home.
Woody Guthrie once said “The best way to get to know a bunch of people is to go and listen to their music.” When Jeremy is working in the shop a heavy mix of Dylan, Guthrie and Jawbreaker keep him in the flow - otherwise his ideal way to spend time is with his wife and son on bike adventures with a picnic en-tow.
